[Distinction]
Overview
Automatically distinguishes text and image parts on the original to perform the optimal processing.
In this item, set the distinction rate to enable the more appropriate distinction.
- When reproducing black text on a screen, the text is processed like a photograph, so the inside of large or bold text may be expressed in grayscale. To reduce such image processing, the system distinguishes the text parts from the photo parts while scanning originals. Then, the black text parts are reproduced in a single color using black only, and the photo parts are reproduced in grayscale with screen processing performed.
- [Distinction] can also be set using [-] or [+] on the right of the [Distinction] key on the [Quality Adj.] screen.
